“Hollow”
Vera Moss

the overview

One room. One beam of light. One take that never blinks. Vera brought a breakup song; we gave it a room with no exits.

The concept was subtraction: strip the warehouse to concrete, hang a single source overhead, and let Vera perform the song eleven times straight through. The edit never leaves the room — closeness comes from proximity, not coverage. Hands before face, breath before chorus, and the window at the end because every Hollow ends looking outward.

Shot over two nights in an empty paper warehouse. The “golden hour” in the final frame is a single 2K bounced off wet concrete — the cheapest trick in the book and the one everyone asks about.

the approach

  1. 01 — The treatment fit on one page. One room, one light, eleven full takes. The label greenlit it in a day because there was nothing to hide behind.
  2. 02 — Rehearsal was the shoot. Take six was technically perfect; take nine is in the video. Exhaustion reads as honesty on camera.
  3. 03 — Grade: crush the blacks, keep the skin. Everything below 10 IRE goes to ink. Her face never does.
