“Static”
The Drift
the overview
A club song shot like a transmission breaking up. “Static” is about signal loss — so we shot the band like interference: strobes, feedback monitors, and a crowd that won't stand still.
Two cameras, one sold-out room, zero retakes of the room itself. The performance was captured live in a single 90-minute set while the audience thought they were at an ordinary gig. The monitors on stage show the actual live feed — the feedback loops in the video are real, not composited.
The edit cuts on drum hits for the first minute, then deliberately falls half a beat behind in the bridge — the one choice the band argued about and now refuses to change.
from the shoot
the approach
- 01 — The room is the cast. A hired crowd acts like a hired crowd. A real gig sweats. We booked the show, not the extras.
- 02 — Two cameras, opposite instincts. Camera A stays wide and locked. Camera B is handheld and disobedient. The tension between them is the video.
- 03 — Feedback is a feature. Stage monitors, strobes, spill — everything a clean shoot removes, we kept.
